International Film Music Festival Ciudad de Úbeda in July

The 7th International Film Music Festival Ciudad de Úbeda has just announced my participation in their renowned festival, from July 18th to 24th, in Spain.

I was nominated for four of the festival’s Goldspirit Awards, including BEST COMPOSER and BEST SCORE.  I am truly honored to be awarded BEST TELEVISION SCORE for my work on “Human Target.”

I will take part in the Úbeda festival in a number of exciting programs.  On July 21st, I will conduct a chamber orchestra in an intimate recital setting.  This up close and personal concert will feature world-premiere arrangements of music from “Caprica,” “Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles,” ‘The Walking Dead” and “Battlestar Galactica.

Then, on July 23rd, I will conduct the Philarmonic Orchestra of Málaga.  This thrilling performance will feature a world-premiere concert suite of my score for “Human Target” as well as pieces from other scores.

For any aspiring composers who can make the trip, I will also be conducting a Film Scoring Workshop.  Fans are welcome, of course, but this event will be geared towards young professionals.  I will focus on the art and craft of scoring, the politics of getting into the industry and other important aspects of being a professional composer.

This concert will be the first time I’ve ever performed the score from many of these projects, including the full-orchestral “Human Target” suite.  Narrowing the scores down to my favorite selections is proving quite challenging.  Any suggestions from you guys?  What pieces do want to hear in concert?
